How did you get started in Photography?:

I started off in high school doing videography and photography for the yearbook (Class of oh, we won’t go there). I went off to college to be a teacher. After a master’s and specialist degree in Education Technology I started my Doctorate. I was mainly doing video and photography on the side to subsidize my poor teacher salary and to pay down my college education. I also started making slideshows for photographers all over the United States. I would see their images come in and just be in love. I thought they had the best job in the world. Later, I discovered they really did!

After some time passed, I transitioned from videography to photography. For awhile I did both! Then I had my son and it was so difficult to edit audio with a baby…lol! I miss video sometimes–I don’t miss the LONG Catholic masses!

What has contributed to your success?:

Learning business! Period! You can shoot for passion all day long but if you can’t figure out the money side, you will be upside down pretty quickly.

What is the most important thing for your continued success?:

Shoot everyday! Even if it is the same thing. You will soon discover details that you passed over the first time.

What’s the best business advice you’ve ever received?:

Learn your value…and what it actually cost you every time you hear that shutter click.

What is most important in your photography?:

FUN! and Life! I want my images to appear as if you knew we were having a GREAT time…and I am sure we were! We laugh a lot and so do our clients. We are in love and so are our clients. We hope great energy pours through!
