We are very grateful to Marko Dusak, of Spinaker Graphics, for sharing one of his albums with us. Marko takes some epic photographs that tell a compelling story but his album design is also a great lesson for us all. He makes great use of his space on a spread, mixing dynamic horizontals that look like fashion shoots with accent shots as an overlay. This can be tricky while designing, but Marko’s album is a great example of how to do this correctly. One of my favorite examples of this is the church as the main image and 8 companion vignettes of the ceremony inside. This gives you a total story in one single spread. I also appreciate that Marko dedicates a few pages just to the bride and then some for the groom and shows the story of the couple getting ready. Plus, his designs are fresh and he never repeats a particular spread, making for an interesting book. Marko takes some striking images of the couple together with a contrasting industrial backdrop, making for some dramatic imagery with amazing lighting. [break]
All in all, amazing shots Marko and great use of simple, elegant designs that enhance the photos. For more on Marko’s photography, visit his site.
